There are many great cases out there, and if you pick from a reliable brand that fits the function and aesthetic that you want, you’ll be happy. My favorite, though, is the Torras case with a rotating kickstand. It allows you to vertically or horizontally prop your iPhone up easily for recipes, FaceTime calls, and videos. The Ostand Q3 Spin is my pick if that sounds useful to you. If you would rather keep your phone slim and simple, I have other options below.

PITAKA Edge
Summary
- Want a kickstand? I recommend the Torras Ostand Q3 Spin. Its ring folds flat for MagSafe accessories.
- Want an ultra-thin case? My researched pick for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max is PITAKA Edge, which can protect your iPhone from minor drops or add some flair without adding bulk.
- Want a simple case without a kickstand? Apple’s Silicone and Clear cases are worth considering.
- If you want a case that is a different style than my suggestions, go for it. There are many fantastic brands and designs out there. Just read the reviews and find one that speaks to you.
Which iPhone case do I recommend?
When clients ask which case I use, I show them the Torras Ostand Q3 Spin. Its metal ring lies flat, then flips out to prop up the phone. I have used Q3 cases on several iPhones and recommend the kickstand to people who will actually use it.

What makes the spin kickstand different?
The kickstand is built into the magnetic ring, so you can fold it flat for a MagSafe charger, wallet, or mount. Open it to prop the phone up in portrait or landscape, or use it as a finger loop. It rotates 360 degrees to adjust the viewing angle.

How well does it hold up?

The Q3 cases I have used feel solid: the kickstand opens firmly, and MagSafe accessories stay attached. Several of my friends and I have owned one of these, some for several years, and have never had a problem with the hinge or any part of the case. The tradeoff is that the kickstand is a moving part, and a Q3 is not the thinnest case you can buy. But that said, it’s not a particularly bulky case like many of the “rugged” ones that you’ll see.
Which version should you get?
Torras has several rotating-kickstand cases. I have used Q3 models, not O3 models, so I cannot compare their long-term durability or day-to-day feel. Q3 pivots at a single point. O3 spins around to position the hinge at any location.
- Ostand Q3 Spin: My starting point for most people who want a kickstand.
- Ostand Q3 Air: A different grip and finish with air-cushioned corners.
- Ostand Q3 Rugged: A thicker bumper if you are comfortable with a bulkier case.
Torras also lists Q3 Fusion for the iPhone 16 Pro family. And there are other Q3 variations you may find that I’m not familiar with. Whatever style you choose, check the exact iPhone model on the listing.
What if you do not want a kickstand?
You do not need to buy a stand you will never use. These are researched options for the new Pro models; I have not tested them myself.
- Ultra-thin: The PITAKA Edge is a popular pick if you want your iPhone to feel close to caseless while adding a bit of personal character or grip. It supports MagSafe and adds around 1 mm of thickness, but leaves more of the sides exposed. Skip it if you often drop your phone.
- Soft-touch or clear: Apple’s Silicone Case has a soft exterior; its Clear Case shows the phone’s color.
As of September 2026, the iPhone Duo is a brand-new foldable form factor that has not shipped yet. Its case options are more experimental, so I would wait for real-world experience before making a firm pick.
What do I not generally recommend?
- Wallet cases: I prefer keeping my phone and cards separate. If someone steals your phone, a wallet case hands them your cards and ID at the same time.
- Screen protectors: They can add glare, dull touch sensitivity, and, if poorly installed, sometimes make touch response erratic. A shattered protector does not prove the display underneath would have shattered too; it is a separate, thin layer of glass. I would make an exception if you often carry your phone alongside keys, or if you specifically want a matte or privacy screen.
- Camera-lens protectors: I generally skip these too. An extra layer over the cameras can introduce reflections or interfere with photos, and I would rather keep the lenses clear.
