About Jimmy
Obomsawin
Hi, I'm Jimmy. I'm an independent Apple specialist, and I help people get more out of their Mac, iPhone, and iPad without the stress. I've been doing this in San Francisco and Washington DC since 2006, and I also work with clients remotely over Zoom.
Apple products can feel like magic, right up until the moment they don't. When that happens, you don't need to feel embarrassed or rushed. You need someone who will sit down with you, figure out what's going on, and explain it in language that actually makes sense. That's what I'm here for.
How I got started
I switched from a PC to a Mac myself back in 2006, and I never looked back. Helping friends and neighbors with their Apple devices gradually turned into my work, and it has been my work ever since. After about twenty years of this, I've seen nearly every error message, mystery setting, and "but it was working yesterday" situation you can imagine. Very little surprises me anymore, and that means very little needs to worry you.
How I work
I believe your technology should serve you, not the other way around. Working one-on-one lets me slow down and understand what you actually need, instead of handing you a one-size-fits-all answer. Whether you've recently switched to Apple, used a Mac for years, or are picking up a device for the very first time, I meet you where you are. No jargon, no judgment, and no making you feel like you should already know this.
A little patience and a clear explanation can turn confusion into confidence. That's the whole job, really.
Who I help
Most of my clients wouldn't call themselves "tech people," and that's exactly the point. They're sharp, capable folks who happen to find computers and phones outside their comfort zone. Some come to me frustrated by passwords, photos that won't sync, or a scam email that gave them a fright. Others want a calmer, better-organized relationship with all the technology in their home. Wherever you fall, you're in good company.
What I can help you with
Here's a sense of the kind of work we do together:
Setting up a new iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and moving your data across from the old one. See moving to a new Mac.
Sorting out a Mac that feels slow, cluttered, or is throwing strange errors. See Mac cleanup and optimization.
One-on-one computer tutoring so you can do more on your own and lean on me less.
A personal digital security audit to protect your accounts, your privacy, and your peace of mind.
Getting your home Wi-Fi, backups, and devices working reliably. I'm also an Eero-certified Pro Installer, so home Wi-Fi is something of a specialty.
I also keep up with Apple and tech news so you don't have to. When an update or a change is coming that might affect you, I'll let you know what it means in plain terms. You can get a feel for that in my Tips and product recommendations.
Where we can meet
I work in person around San Francisco and Washington DC, and over Zoom with clients anywhere there's an internet connection. New clients start with a free initial consult, so we can talk through what you need before you commit to anything. If you'd like to know more about how sessions work, my FAQs cover the common questions, and you can read what clients have said in my Google reviews.
Let's talk
If any of this sounds like the kind of help you've been wanting, I'd love to hear from you. You can book a free initial consult, and we'll take it from there, at your pace.
