FAQs

  • Do I need to be in San Francisco to work with you?

Definitely not! Many of my customers live here, but most of my customers are remote. I even have a few in other countries.

  • Who is your typical customer?

I specialize in helping home users. While my customers are all ages (even children whose parents hire me), most of my customers are 60 and up. I’ve even got a few centenarians on my customer list!

  • What services do you offer?

I do all kinds of things for people related to their Mac, iPhone, and other Apple Products. I advise them on what to buy, help them fix problems they have, help them migrate to new devices, and more. I am also pretty handy when it comes to many things in technology, such as WiFi, printers, and televisions.

  • Can you recover files from an crashed hard drive?

This is something I used to be able to do in some cases, but in the past several years, disk technology and encryption have changed so much that it’s something I can rarely help with anymore. You may need to send your drive to a data recovery specialist, but you should know that it’s probably going to cost well over $1,000. Please, please, back up your data.

  • Do you set up home entertainment systems like Sonos and Smart TVs?

Those are devices I have some experience with, but they really aren’t my forte. I’m happy to work with my Mac customers on making sure that you get devices that operate well with them, and I can help with some basic setups. But if you are going to need help with mounting equipment or high-end audio systems, that’s really out of my purview.

  • Do you help with smart home installations?

I love smart home technology, and I know my way around it pretty well. I’m glad to help my customers with this but I want to begin by setting expectations. Home Automation is in its infancy. So you should go in understanding that things will often not work as expected, and be prepared to lots of diagnosing.

  • Do you offer support for businesses?

I do have a few business clients but my primary business is home users and solopreneurs. Since I work alone, when I am on vacation, I might not be available at all. That’s not a position many businesses can afford to be in.
