Upcoming change: dismissing alarms on iPhone

Apple is preparing to release the first major update for iOS 26. iOS 26.1 will probably be released later this month. Among the bug fixes, performance improvements, tweaks to the new Liquid Glass interface, and a few other new features and changes, Apple is changing how you dismiss an alarm. I think it’s a really good change, but I want to give my readers a heads-up because I know how disorienting things can be when your alarm is going off first thing in the morning.

After you install to iOS 26.1 update, the alarm screen on your iPhone will no longer have two buttons. Instead, there will be a snooze button as well as a slider to stop the alarm. This should prevent you from accidentally turning your alarm off when you meant to hit the snooze button. And maybe this little bit of extra work will help you wake up and not go right back to sleep.
