Missed an Alert? Check Notification Center
iOS, iPadOS, and macOS all let you specify whether any given app should show no notifications, temporary banners, or persistent banners: look in Settings (or System Settings on Mac) > Notifications.
Temporary banners appear briefly and then automatically disappear, which is appropriate for notifications requiring no acknowledgment.
Persistent banners stay in place until you dismiss them, either by clicking the x in the corner on Mac or swiping them up and away on iPad or iPhone.
But what if you see a temporary banner only as it’s disappearing and can’t read it in time? You can find a historical list of notifications in Notification Center. To open on iPad or iPhone swipe down from the top center of the screen, starting on the notch or above the Dynamic Island. It doesn't have to be a dramatic flick or any particular speed; you can drag it down as quickly or slowly as you like. On Mac, click the date and time in the upper right corner. If your Mac has a trackpad, you can also swipe with two fingers from the right edge of the trackpad.
