iOS 13 & watchOS 6 are out–but please be cautious

Today Apple released iOS 13 and watchOS 6 (for Watch Series 3 & 4 only). They are exciting releases but please exercise caution if installing them. In my opinion, Apple released iOS 13 prematurely because the iPhone 11 is coming out tomorrow. Chances are that if you install them everything will be fine, but please please back up your device before the upgrade. You don't want to risk losing important data if the upgrade has a problem. Apple will be releasing iOS 13.1 on September 24, so you're probably better off waiting an extra 5 days just to be safe. But you should always check on your backups before an update to be safe anyway.

iPadOS 13 will be out on September 24 as well. watchOS 6 for Watch Series 1 and 2 will be out "later this fall".

iOS 13 brings lots of exciting new features such as Dark Mode, better text handling, a redesigned Maps app, redesigned Reminders, video editing within the Photos app, and much much more. Read about the new features here.

If you are ready to install go on your iPhone to the Settings app > General > Software Update.

After you update your iPhone you can update your Watch Series 3 or 4 in your Watch app on iPhone > Settings > General > Software Update.
