Apple releases iOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, more
Today, Apple released updates across all of their system software. There are not a lot of new features, but this is a huge maintenance update with lots of security, bug, and performance fixes, so I recommend everyone install them at their earliest convenience.
The next expected batch of features, including the much-awaited Siri upgrade and support in many EU countries, is expected in the .4 updates probably in April.
New features include:
- Genmoji support on Mac
- Improvements to Visual Intelligence on iPhone 16—add events to Calendar and better plant and animal recognition
- AI summaries of News & Entertainment app alerts have been disabled because of complaints of unintentionally misleading headlines, to be reenabled at a later date
- AI summary notifications are now italicized to differentiate them better
- Apple Intelligence is now enabled automatically, but if you prefer to turn it off, you can do so in Settings.
Today's software releases are:
- iOS 18.3
- iPadOS 18.3
- tvOS 18.3
- watchOS 11.3
- HomePod 18.3
- visionOS 2.3
- macOS Sequoia 15.3
- iPadOS 17.7.4 (only for iPads unable to run iOS 18)
- macOS Sonoma 14.7.3
- macOS Ventura 13.7.3
- Safari 18.3 (for Sonoma and Ventura; it's built into today's Sequoia update)
