Remember to occasionally check for Zoom updates

Zoom has certainly turned out to be a rising star of 2020. It’s a great tool that has definitely been useful. But something about it that drives me crazy is that it’s one of the few apps on your Mac that rarely, if ever, checks for updates automatically. And updates for Zoom are extremely important. As it rose to success, security flaw after security flaw were discovered (and quickly fixed). And as it gained in popularity new features and refinements have been added, but you must update to take advantage of them.

To make sure that you’re always using the latest, greatest, and most secure, I recommend periodically checking for updates. There is a new one every week or two. To do that:

  • open the Zoom app (if you don’t know how you can click this link)
  • click the “zoom.us” menu in the upper left corner of your screen
  • click the “Check for Updates” menu item
  • follow any prompts to install and enter your computer login password if needed.
