There is a big difference between “resume” and “resumé”. In some of my prior jobs where I’ve assisted with the employee hiring process I considered “Resume” to be big points against a candidate for a position where word processing abilites were a requirement. Previous to Lion you needed to learn complex keystrokes to get these accented characters on an American keyboard or you would need to dive deep into menus. Lion, however, has taken a page from iOS with tap-and-hold keys. Simply hold a key for one second and a menu pops up providing several accented and character options. In the example picture above I’m holding the “s” key. Click the one you want or press the corresponding number key. Voilà!
