How to find which iOS apps hog storage

Low on space on your iPhone or iPad? Some apps eat up a lot more space than necessary. Deleting the app and reinstalling fixes the problem, at least temporarily.

Go to the Settings app > General > Usage. Once the apps load, take a look at the top few and hunt for discrepancies like this. The VINE APPS app itself is 14.2 MB, but for some reason it’s using 505 MB of additional data on my iPhone which is really ridiculous.

Don’t delete an app that contains saved games or documents that aren’t synced with some sort of cloud service. If you’re sure it’s safe then go ahead and delete it. You can download purchased apps again for free in the App Store.
