
Today Apple released software updates for all of their devices. In addition to the regular bug, performance, and security fixes, these updates include some significant features:
- FaceID works when wearing a mask (iPhone 12 or newer required)
- Universal Control allows you to control multiple iPads and Macs with a single mouse and keyboard and even drag and drop content between devices
- Improved privacy for AirTag
- Spatial Audio for M1 Macs
- Add notes to iCloud Keychain entries
- Apps such as Square can use iPhone to take tap payments without additional hardware
- Additional Siri voice
- Apple TV and HomePod can join captive networks (networks like those at a hotel where you must agree to terms or enter your room number)
- FaceTime SharePlay can be started directly from within supported apps
- Lots of new emoji
To update
- Mac (macOS 13 Ventura or later): Click the Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update.
- Mac (macOS 12 Monterey or earlier): Click the Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update. Apple Support Article HT201541
- iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch: Open the Settings app > General > Software Update. Apple Support Article HT204204
- Apple Watch: First update your iPhone, then on your iPhone tap the Watch app > General > Software Update. Apple Support Article HT204641
- Apple TV: Go to the Settings app > System > Software Update. Apple Support Article HT202716
- HomePod: Updates will install automatically. To push the update along faster see the instructions in Apple Support Article HT208247
