Apple releases macOS 10.12.3, iOS 10.2.1, watchOS 3.1.3, tvOS 10.1.1

Today Apple released updates across of all of their operating systems. There are no new features (or emoji), but there are security, bug, stability, and performance improvements. In particular there are several fixes for owners of the new 2016 MacBook Pros. I recommend that everyone on the current generation of software install these updates right away, and if you’ve been holding out on updating to the latest generation now is a great time to consider it.

  • macOS Sierra 10.12.3
  • iOS 10.2.1
  • watchOS 3.1.3
  • tvOS 10.1.1

As always, be sure your devices are fully backed up first. These minor patch updates rarely cause problems but don’t take that chance.

To install the updates

  • macOS: Click the Apple menu > App Store > Updates. After the page loads click the Update button.
  • iOS: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • watchOS: First upgrade your iPhone, then on your iPhone tap the Watch app > General > Software Update. This update might take about an hour to install and will require you to leave your Apple Watch on the charger.
  • tvOS: navigate to Settings > System > Software Update.
